The unit has a lubricant dispenser, which is controllable by a control circuit, where the lubricant dispenser exhibits a gas formation cell (1). The gas formation cell is continuously or interval-moderately controlled by the control circuit depending upon the speed of a chain drive for interval-moderate dispensing a lubricant to the chain drive. The chain drive has two axially parallel chain wheels (3) that stand at a distance to each other. An endless roller chain is drivable by the chain wheels, and is guided over the chain wheels.
