The bath lift has a drive unit (1) with an electric motor (15) directly above a transmission (16) acting with at least one rack, and having a rechargeable battery (18) in a battery box (17). A hand control unit (24) is provided for the motor. The battery box is open at the top in the longitudinal central axis of drive unit, and has no closing flap.
