The device has a drill press (1) which is fastened to a carriage (6), and a scribe (10) which is in a constant perpendicular feed motion to the direction of motion of a carriage. The carriage feed motion necessary for the penetration of the drill (2) into a sample (8) is produced by a motor (9). The motor has a spring (3) combined so that together they provide for pre-loading and constant contact pressure of the drill.
