An optical filter (1) surrounds the lamp. This is partially transparent and partially printed or -painted. The filter projects an image on the background (ceiling, wall or facade), around the lamp. Its size and orientation are variable. The filter (1) is replaceable in its holder (2), which has one or more arms. This can be rotated about the axis (3) or fixed. The lamp socket has an adjustable holder (5) which is pushed along the axis, to vary the size of the projected image. An adjustable shade (5) on the holder is slid along for stepless adjustment or shading of illumination inside the projector. A metal shade over the lamp is connected to the filter and holder. This prevents upward projection, causing the light to pass through the filter and onto the background (11). The axis is fitted to a mounting base (8). The latter contains a mounting for attachment of the lamp unit to the ceiling, wall or facade. It also provides room for cables and any transformer used with low voltage lamps.
