The roughing and milling cutter (1) has a cylindrical tool shaft (2) which can be clamped at the upper end in the milling machine. The milling faces (4) have a corrugated grinder (9) along the longitudinal direction. The grinder has regularly spaced peaks and troughs each lying in a plane occupying a certain angle relative to the centre axis (7) of the cutter . In the case of softer workpieces which are to be machined the pitch angle (a) is greater than for use on harder workpieces.
