The bed has head- and leg parts, where side grills in the form of bars are movably arranged in bed-posts for lateral support between the head- and leg parts. Each bed-post has a guide rail, and a sliding carriage (8) with rotatably supported fingers is arranged in the guide rail. The fingers co-operate with end areas of the bars. Each sliding carriage is formed from individual sliding carriages (8.1-8.3) that are movable to each other. The individual carriages are connected with each other by a connecting unit (10) that is arranged in the guide rail.
