The device (1) has a filter assembly (4), and a water drain fitting (2) e.g. shower fitting, tank fitting, washbasin fitting and sink fitting, which is connected to a water intake pipe (3) in a fluidic manner, where the assembly and the fitting are formed as a single-piece component. The assembly is insertable into the pipe and is formed in the fitting in an integrated manner. The assembly is formed directly upstream or downstream of the fitting. The assembly comprises filter pipes that are arranged in a filter housing pipe and composed of a material e.g. polyester or polyether sulphone. An independent claim is also included for a filter assembly with a filter.
