The device has an end stop (3) at an end of a roller conveyor. An elevator unit comprising a lever and a cross bar are held below a pallet lying at the end stop, where a hand lever (7) operates the unit. A manually operated locking mechanism is provided at the hand lever for selective coupling and decoupling of the hand lever with the elevator unit. A movable stopper is provided in the conveyor for holding and releasing the pallet.
