A battery-operated Christmas candle comprises an on/off switch in the candle housing (11) comprising a ferrite switch bridge bistably arranged in alternative switch positions by permanent magnets. Superposition by an external switch magnet (7) changes the internal magnetic flux and the switch takes up one of the bistable positions.
