The space (1) has a protection device including a flexible planar structure for supporting loading goods. The device has a form stable cassette section (4) and a housing side part unit (5) that are detachably held in a holder (6). A connecting unit guide, drive pin, bearing sleeve, guideway, connecting unit groove (9) and protection pin are provided for transferring the cassette section and the housing side part into a secured position that is form-fitted with the holder based on tensile load and bending load, which are acting on the planar structure. An independent claim is also included for a protection device for an inner space such as a loading space, of a motor vehicle.
