The gauge has a capacitive sensor (2) that is arranged in such a manner that the sensor is immersed into liquid (4) in a tank and the capacitance of the sensor changes according to the level of the liquid in the tank. The sensor has an outer tube and an electrically insulated inner tube that is coated with an electrically non-conducting material, where the inner tube is fixed by a spacer sleeve. The sensor has drill holes at upper and lower ends of the outer tube of the sensor.
