The sensor has a sensor field, and a luminescent indicator dye embedded in an oxygen permeable polymer matrix. An optical fiber (10) penetrating a carrier (16) guides excitation light from an LED to the field. The fiber guides luminescence-emission light from the field to a photomultiplier. Another sensor field arranged adjacent to the former field contains the same dye that is embedded in another oxygen-permeable polymer matrix. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a chemical or physical parameter of a sample.
