The fixing element has two or more U-shaped hoop elements (11) spaced from one another in parallel planes and each with a web (21) and protruding arms (22, 23) which are connected onto two longitudinal elements (12). The spacing of the longitudinal elements or arms is greater than the width extension of the joining water stop strip so that the minimum prescribed spacing according to DIN V 1819/2005 to 2010 is provided. A U-shaped angled edge element which opens towards the upper arms (23) of the U-shaped hoops can be connected to the hoops to form an upward angled edge for the transition between base plate and wall.
