The connector (1) has two plug connector halves (3, 5) including respective contact socket carrier and a contact pin carrier, where the carriers are provided with an integrated contact socket and an integrated contact pin, respectively. The carriers are covered with respective protection housings. The protection housings are connected with the respective contact socket carrier and the contact pin carrier by using corresponding crimp connections.
