The unit has a transverse folding device (11) arranged downstream to a longitudinal folding device (10) that has only one folding funnel (12), in which print substrate webs run as a line (13). The webs are cut into partial webs by a longitudinal cutting device that is assigned to the funnel or by another longitudinal cutting device that is assigned to one of the webs. A line (14) that leaves the funnel is separated into three partial lines (18, 19, 20) downstream to the funnel and upstream to the transverse folding device, where a binding apparatus (21) is assigned to one of the partial lines.
