The instrument (1) has four input signals (2a, 2b, 2C, 2d, 2e, 2f), a data memory (8). The signal inputs and the data memory are connected to an arithmetic and logic unit (5). The arithmetic and logic unit is operable in several operating modes. An operating mode is stored by a temporal distance given in advance and defines a selection from individual measured values of a sequence which is received signals and effected in a min max operating mode.
