The device (10) has a lighting unit (14) attached to a transport unit (12), and a motor/generator unit (16) accommodated in or on the transport unit for providing current supply for an illuminant (18). The lighting unit is transferred between a main operating condition, in which the lighting unit is folded and/or extended, and a transport condition, in which the lighting unit is folded and/or retracted. A supporting base is attached to a supporting element (30) and maintains the transport unit at a distance from the base.
