The facade system (1) at a building opening to withstand an explosion, where a pressure wave would strike it at right angles, is a facade (2) composed of mullions (3) and transoms (4) anchored at the opening. It covers an existing facade (2), of frame components with fillings (5) which shift under pressure to direct the energy of an explosive pressure wave to damper points at the center of the opening. The tongue and groove bonds for the frame profiles are wholly within a zone limited to the outer side of the facade, defined by the inner surfaces of the fillers.
