A special fabric for skiing sports is produced. It is used for parts of the clothing, especially where extra reinforcement and/or weight is required. It is made by braiding or weaving from virtually any suitable fiber or filament, natural or artificial. Examples include carbon fiber, polyester, glass fiber, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene or polyethylene. It is made of or reinforced by, thin metal wire or metal fibers. Through the type of weave or braiding, and the different strengths and thicknesses of warp or weft fibers, the stiffness, weight and strength of the fabric produced, is varied. The special fabric has differentiated longitudinal and transverse flexural rigidity. In addition to controlling mechanical properties, it posesses breathing properties. The properties satisfy national and international guidelines and limits. It is suitable for use in the backs and sides of ski jackets and for the rear of skiing trousers, from the waistband to the calf. Differentiation of longitudinal and transverse tensile and flexural strengths is quantified. The fabric is heated e.g. to 170-200[deg]C, for deformation on a body mold. The methods of construction described, produce intentional weight increase in the fabric.
