The system includes a mineral or ceramic wearing surface with an adhesive layer on its underside, to bond a damping layer to it. The layer comprises any of a wide range of plastic- or natural fiber base materials. Almost any type of wearing surface may be used with this system; examples include laminate flooring, parquets, veneers, solid wood floorboards, PVC, vulcanized flooring, linoleum, textiles and cork. The system can also be used with wall coverings. The adhesive is a tile adhesive, plaster or a layer of mortar.
