A method for bleaching of wood pulps with the use of an alkaline bleaching fluid, the h₂O₂ as an active bleaching agents, characterized in that the bleaching fluid a slurry of easily soluble magnesium hydroxide is added, obtained by treatment of an aqueous suspension of magnesium oxide with high shear forces.
