A dye composition comprising, in a medium suitable for the dying of human hair, a bis-azopyridiniopyridone dye of specified formula and at least one other different synthetic colorant. A hair dye composition comprises an azopyridiniopyridone dye of formula (I) and at least one other synthetic colorant having a structure different from (I).
