Reagent for use in the preparation of organic sulphoxylated and fluorinated derivatives is composed of a) a salt of fluorocarboxylic acid of the formula Ea-CF2-COOH with the total number of carbon atoms not exceeding 50 where Ea represents a halogen or an electron attracting group having a Hammett constant of at least 0.1, with an inorganic cation selected from among sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium, and francium or a quaternary ammonium or phosphonium group; and b) a solvent selected from among N-disubstituted amides, tetrasubstituted ureas, monosubstituted lactams, cyclic or non-cyclic ethers, dimethyl sulfoxide, acetonitrile and benzonitrile; wherein the content o releasable protons in a) and b), including their impurities, is at most equal to half the initial molar concentration of said fluorocarboxylic acid salt. Also disclosed is a process for the synthesis of oxysulphide-containing and fluorine-containing organic derivatives by bringing said reagent into contact with a sulphur oxide and heating the resulting mixture at a temperature in the range of between 100 and 200 °C for a period in the range of between 30 minutes to 20 hours.
