A method and device for displaying a navigation map

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device smoothly updating a spectacle by re-setting a height of a view point and sight line accompanying the movement of drivers own vehicle, even if there are ups and downs on a running road, in a navigation device which displays a three-dimensional map based on three dimensional map information such as geographical features, roads, etc. ;SOLUTION: When the present position of drivers own vehicle is updated by a present position detecting part 3-5, this navigation device reads map data in the vicinity of the vehicle from a map data base 1-3 through a data reading part 3-7; refers to data of geographical features and altitude around own vehicle included in the map data; and after re-setting an altitude to higher position than the altitude of the aforementioned geographical features by a view-point setting part 3-11, coordinates transformation is operated by a display processing part 3-10 for displaying a perspective map viewed from the newly set view point.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
