The pommel (1) has inner layers (3) arranged between two outer layers (2), where each layer is formed of primary and secondary fibers perpendicular to one another. The outer layers are oriented such that, relative to a horizontal plane, their respective fibers are parallel and perpendicular to a symmetrical vertical longitudinal median geometrical plane of the pommel. The inner layers are oriented such that, relative to the horizontal plane, their respective fibers are oriented at 45 degrees with respect to the median geometrical plane. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a saddle.
