The device has a weight (11), a cable (12), a return unit (14) and a clamp (15) constituting a force application device provided for the permanent application of a force on a point of a section of a sub-marine pipe (10). The pipe buckles laterally under the influence of the applied force. The force is decomposed into three perpendicular components, where one component is perpendicular to an axis of the pipe at the level of the point of application of the force.
