The device has a component (26) movably mounted to slide with respect to a body (10). A helical spring (50) is mounted around a base (30) between an inner tube (40), an outer tube (21), a lower side (29) of a component`s head (28) and an upper surface (46) of a body`s inner wall (42). The spring is adapted to operate when the trunk lid is closed to maintain the lower side and a shoulder (60) of the head wide apart from an inner support side (44) of the wall and support sides of elastic arms. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a trunk lid stopping device.
