The method involves pouring successive layers of a liquid mixture of unsaturated polyester resin, a copolymerizable agent and a polymerization catalyst in a mold. The mold is heated to begin gelation and is cooled to relax for the period necessary for pouring resulting layer. Objects e.g. sand, are included by submerging the objects in the resulting layer. The mold is staved, after the commencement of gelation of the last layer, in order to cause hardening of the assembly of the gelled layers by crosslinking agent polymerization.
