The installation for treating metallic sodium from a fast neutron nuclear reactor, comprises treatment enclosure equipped with a gas inlet (6) and outlet (8), a unit (10) to circulate a gas flow containing a steam in the enclosure, horizontal and vertical plates defining housings to receive thin layer liquid metallic sodium, and a unit (36, 52) to deposit treated liquid metallic sodium. The plates (14) forming between the gas circulation channels that are in contact with the treated sodium. A gas inlet is placed above the plates and a gas outlet is placed opposite to the inlet. A tank (20) and a removable lid (24) are used to close the openings tightly. The liquid sodium is connected in a removable way at the inlet. A handle is used to transfer the plates between the treatment enclosure. The gas having volume of: nitrogen/air (94-99%), carbon dioxide (10-99%) and steam (1-6%). A thickness of the sodium film in the plates is lower than 40 mm.
