The method involves considering data of virtual objects on which a procedural map acts to produce the object animation. The animation parameters are defined, based on the data, and map parameters are introduced in a procedural map generation tool (10). The parameters are processed using the tool to generate the animation map such that the map has a tree structure. The map is transmitted to an animation management tool, and the map parameters are associated to the animation parameters. The animation parameters are modified based on interpretation of the map parameters. An independent claim is also included for a tool for generating and/or modifying a virtual object animation procedural map.
