The retainer has two coaxial circular parts (4, 5) defining a support surface (6) and a valve spring guiding surface (7) of a valve spring, where the surface (7) corresponds to an edge of the circular part (5). One of the parts (4, 5) has notches (8) that are disposed along the part (4). The notches are distributed symmetrically with respect to an axis of the retainer and have an angle of 72 degrees between successive notches. The notches define connection sections at the support surface (6). The notches define an arc of circle with a radius and a center.
