The device has a rod (8), placed inside a wall of a door, which is interior to a lock (1) and extended in the door by an extension of another rod which is supported on the ground or is retracted in the door. An upper end (9) of the rod (8) has, on one of its sides, a rack (10) which is engaged with a toothed pinion portion (6) carried by a rotary arm (3) of a handle. The rod (8) has a locking/unlocking device actuated by a cam which is carried by the rotary arm.
