The method involves selecting an access point of a communication network e.g. wireless LAN network, in a list of access points accessible to a radiocommunication terminal e.g. mobile telephone. The access point is selected taking into account an access point selection criterion, representing a predefined policy for connection of the terminal to the network. The terminal is connected to a selected network access point in a manner to establish a communication session with a communicating client application executed on the terminal and a remote communicating application. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for connection of a radiocommunication terminal executing a communicating client application, to a mobile communication network (2) a computer program product downloadable from a communication network and/or stored on a computer readable medium and comprising program code instructions for the implementation of stages of a method for connecting a radiocommunication terminal executing a client application, to a mobile communication network.
