The PSA process, using a number of adsorption containers operating in parallel and cyclically, consists of an adsorption stage in which at least part of the carbon dioxide (CO2) contained in the feed gas is adsorbed, and a depressurization stage with a given total duration (Tdep) in which the adsorbed gas is desorbed by a reduction in pressure. During the depressurization stage at least two gases (G1, G2) are recuperated one after the other during two time periods (T1, T2) that are together shorter than or equal to the total duration. The depressurization stage can be operated in co-current or counter-current by means of a valve or by purging with the aid of a vacuum pump.
