The device has a translation unit that is provided for displacing a rod (CAN) between a working position and a rest position. The translation unit has a rack (CRE) arranged longitudinally on the rod and rotated by a pinion (PIG). The pinion has an axle that is integrated with a slide (COU) and traverses two flanks (FLA1, FLA2) of the slide. The rod (CAN) is laterally guided by the flanks of the slide. The pinion is driven by a gear motor (MOT). The pinion pivots the rod (CAN) from its rest position towards a waiting position. An independent claim is also included for a method of implementing a device for introduction of a rod into an enclosure.
