The method involves requesting broadcast of a message e.g. short message service message, by a requesting mobile subscriber (MS) located in a telecommunication network cell (C2). The message is broadcasted to the nearby target mobile subscribers, located in the cells (C1, C3, C4) in the neighborhood of the cell (C2), from the subscriber (MS). The target subscribers to which the message is broadcasted are selected by a mobile switching center (MSC) managing the cell of the subscriber (MS) and by a visited location register (VLR) associated to the center. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mobile switching center managing the cells of a telecommunication network (2) a visited location register associated to a mobile switching center.
