The unit has a psychoacoustic model whose parameters are modified by a user, and a filter assembly for digital filtering amplitude and phase of an audio signal based on its frequency, where the model and the filter assembly are provided to each of low frequency and high frequency loudspeakers (HPb, HPh) in upstream of power amplifiers (AP). The filter assembly includes a finite impulse response (FIR) filter or FIR-infinite impulse response (FIR-IIR) hybrid filter. The model linearizes a response curve of a loudspeaker enclosure according to a direction of perception of sound by a user. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an audio processing method for linearizing a stereo system (2) a method for calibrating an audio processing unit.
