The method involves broadcasting, in confined zones (15, 17), a set of position determining satellite signals (27) per zone, where each signal corresponds to a specific terrestrial point and is broadcasted by a single broadcasting source (14, 16) per zone. The broadcasted signals are received by a mobile object (21) in one of the confined zones. Consistency checking of the signals received by the object is performed such that the object is located as being present in the zone where the reception has occurred. An independent claim is also included for a device for locating a mobile object in a confined environment.
