The apparatus has a disc (7) supporting a cutting tool (8), and a spout (5) forming a conduit across which a food is introduced. A food maintaining elastic insert (12) guides the food across the spout and is mounted between the spout and a pusher (6), where the insert is fixed to the spout in a removable manner. The insert has elastic tongues moved with respect to an insertion axis (10) of the food in the insert and supported perpendicularly against the food with respect to the axis, where the tongues are elastically adapted to a shape of the food throughout the moving of food by the pusher. An independent claim is also included for an elastic insert for maintaining food across a spout of a food treating apparatus.
