The device has a main duct (4) connecting an outlet of an internal combustion engine (1) to an inlet of a particle filter (5). An injector (8) performs fuel injection, associated to an oxidizer injection zone (9), between the outlet and the inlet so as to attain an increase of temperature by the combustion of the injected fuel and oxidizer to permit the thermal breakdown of soot and particles trapped in the filter. The oxidizer injection is performed downstream the fuel injection between the fuel injection and the inlet.
