The accumulator (1) has an accumulator element (2) and a bi-metal switch (3) connected in series with a charging circuit (4) of the accumulator. The switch switches from a close position to an open position in which the circuit is closed and opened, respectively, when the temperature of the element exceeds a predetermined threshold value. A positive temperature coefficient resistance (5) is electrically connected in parallel to the switch and is thermally connected to the switch so as to maintain the switch in open position as long as charging current (Ic) circulates in the circuit.
