Hollow fiber filtration membrane integrity testing comprises use of concentrate and permeate compartments formed by inside and outside of fibers
The process, including a stage in which the insides of the membrane's hollow fibers are pressurized by a gas such as air, is used to test membranes of inner skin type, with a concentrate compartment (J) formed by the insides of the hollow fibers, and the permeate compartment (K) is formed by their outer surfaces. The pressurized gas is circulated in the concentrate compartment to empty the hollow fibers, which are open at their ends, and the permeate compartment is left at atmospheric pressure so that the membrane surface liquid can migrate through the membrane. The permeate compartment is then isolated, and the pressure inside it is measured and compared after a set time with the pressure to be found in an integral membrane.
