The label (2) with a data storage capacity, e.g. a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip is embedded in a plastic material (4), isolated in a cavity (3) together with a substance (5) that absorbs moisture and/or gas and/or inhibits corrosion that protects the label from degradation while at the same time allowing the passage of electromagnetic waves from a remote RFID chip writer/reader. The substance, which is selected from anhydride salts, silica gels, starches and/or clays, can be enclosed in a sachet (6), or it can be a volatile substance sublimated by a source inside the cavity to cover the label in a monomolecular film layer.
