The generator (1) has a high voltage source (2) for charging a microwave frequency transmission line (3) e.g. microstrip. A light source (7) e.g. laser source, delivers a light pulse to a semiconductor (4A) connected to the line and a reference potential (5). Another light source (8) delivers another light pulse to a semiconductor (4B) connected to the line and a useful load (6). A synchronizing unit synchronizes an emission delay between the sources. The semiconductors are passive semiconductor elements with a linear regime forming photosensitive switches and are n-p doped semiconductors.
