The reel (1) has a lid (23) movable between a passage position in which the lid authorizes the placement of a domestic packaging film`s e.g. aluminum film, end portion to be cut in a cutting zone and a tensioning position in which the lid is adapted to hold the portion in the zone. A slide slides in a rail (11) that extends in the cutting zone. The slide has blades that cut the portion held in the zone during the displacement of the slide. The rail and the slide cut the portion to separate the end portion from the rest of a film roll (5) when the portion is in the zone. An independent claim is also included for an assembly comprising a reel and a film roll.
