The system has a power converter (5) supplying windings of an armature (11) by a rectangular wave excitation procedure. Battery voltage characteristic specifications, armature windings, switching devices (20u, 30u, 20v, 30v, 20w, 30w), alternating current lines (6), and DC line (4) are fixed such that current circulating through the devices is less than that of an allowable maximum value of the devices. The current is determined by battery voltage characteristics, armature windings` resistance, switching devices` conduction resistance, and alternating current and DC lines` resistance.
