The torch has a metallic through tube (25) cooled by using coolant e.g. water, and a sacrificial electrode (30) e.g. graphite electrode, inserted in the tube. An electrode supplying unit supplies the electrode and comprises an electrode moving device (60) e.g. motorized roller, moving the electrode towards a distal end of the torch. A guiding and maintaining unit (40) ensures the guiding and fixation of a head of the torch on a body of the torch in a predetermined position.
