The method involves introducing a dose of a sanitizing product such as chlorine, into a housing (9) provided with a transparent stopper (10), where the housing is connected to a cold water supply of a bathtub (1) by a pipe (11) equipped with a solenoid valve (12) and to a pump (7) of a hydro-massage system by a pipe (15). A cycle alternating between stop periods of the pump and functioning periods of the pump is executed for a duration ranging between one to two minutes. An independent claim is also included for a device for sanitizing a hydro-massage system of a sanitary equipment.
