A method of preparing a particulate epoxidation catalyst comprising a Group 11 metal, especially silver, and one or more promoters, especially rhenium, tungsten, molybdenum, chromium or mixtures thereof, on a particulate carrier material having a pore size distribution such that pores with diameters in the range 0.2-10 micrometres represent at least 70% of the total pore volume. Also disclosed is a process for the epoxidation of an olefin comprising use of the epoxidation catalyst; a reactor, especially a microchannel reactor, for the epoxidation of an olefin comprising use of the epoxidation catalyst.
