An educational device for teaching colours

An educational device for teaching colours comprises a diffuser 3 a red light source (7, fig 2), a green light source (8, fig 2) and a blue light source (9, fig 2) arranged to illuminate the diffuser 3 and control means adapted to independently vary the intensity of the light from each of the light sources. The diffuser 3 preferably comprises a lens which has a flat diffusing surface or alternatively could comprise a domed diffusing surface. The control means preferably includes a separate control member 4, 5, 6 for each light source, with the control member 4, 5, 6 either being in the form of a twistable knob or a linearly movable knob. A scale 13 may be provided so that the intensity of each light source can be determined. The light sources may be mixed together to produce different colours and therefore the device may be used to teach children about colours and combinations of colours.
